The school was established in a humble way in 1943 by late Sri. Maman Chohan (B.A., B.L.), son of late Sri.Raman and late Smt. Chakki Raman, in memory of his father. The school has, over the past 68 years, contributed tremendously to the social, educational and cultural uplift of the people of Manappuram in general and Perinjanam in particular.

The school got the government sanction in 1949. The unique vision of Sri. Maman Chohan, and his realization that unemployment was the biggest evil carving the society, resulted in the commencement of a course imparting technical education in the school in 1951. This section was known as the Engineering School.

A Teachers Training Institute offering T.T.C. course was also started with government sanction in the same year. Unfortunately, these two courses, which were the pride of the institution, were discontinued owing to negligence from the part of those who concerned after the death of Sri. Maman Chohan. After the demise of his father, Sri. V.M. Sreenivasan, the only son of Sri.Maman Chohan took charge as the manager of the school and after the demise of Sri. Sreenivasan in 1980, his son Sri.Ranjith became the manager. In 1996, Sree Lakshmi Private Family Educational & Charitable Trust took over the school and the trust president Sri. V.G. Mohanan assumed office as the manager of the school. Since Sri. V.G. Mohanan was engaged in business activities abroad, late Sri. K.C. Balan was appointed as the School Correspondent. He continued in that post till 2006. Now Smt. Fathima Mohan, wife of Sri. V.G. Mohanan is the School Correspondent. Smt. Rajani K.S. is the principal of the school and Sri. Anil Kumar R,Vocational Teacher in MLT, is the Academic Head, of the VHSE section.

VHSE was started in the school in 1991 with two batches of Medical Laboratory Technician Course (MLT). In 1992, one batch of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (RAC) and one batch of General Insurance (GI) were added. Again in the year 2000 one batch of Maintenance and Repairs of Automobiles (MRA) and one batch of Travel and Tourism (TT) were started. Now there are 5 courses and 6 batches giving admission to a total of 150 students to the five different batches each year. The VHSE section itself has a student strength of about 300 (first and second year combined).

English medium LP section was started in the unaided sector in the school in 2003. Once, the school was the largest high schools in Chavakkad Educational District in terms of student strength. Now the school has a student-strength of about 1800. (VHSE, HS and LP combined). The school has also revelled in the field of arts and sports over the years. The school is the overall champion in the Valapad Sub-district Youth Festival (H.S. section) from 2005 onwards which is a record performance. Still moving ahead strongly on the path of growth, this institution, without doubt, is a jewel in the crown of Perinjanam.
